Shantou University invites well-qualified applications and nominations for the positions of Dean of Liberal Arts and Director of the English Language Centre commencing in August 2008, or mutually agreed date.
Dean of Liberal Arts College
All the applicants must have a PhD in humanities and social sciences. The successful candidate should be a senior scholar with administrative experiences in an international institution. He or she should be familiar with international liberal arts education and research, and be capable of interacting with international educational institutions and professional organizations. the Dean will be expected to lead rapid development of the College including establishing a strategic plan, staff recruiting and curricular reform of the existing programs.
Director, English Language Centre
All the applicants must have a PhD degree in Applied Linguistics, TESOL or the closely related fields. The successful candidate should demonstrate experiences in successfully leading and managing an English language centre/department, be experienced with English as foreign language education at universities and be capable of interacting with international educational institutions and professional organizations such as TESOL. Shantou University, founded in 1981 by Mr. Li Ka-Shing, is the only privately funded public university in China.
