Abstract:
This study realized the structural diversity of cuprofullerene trifluoroacetates via in situ hydrolysis of hexafluoroacetylacetone (HFAC) under solvothermal conditions. The resultant complexes present diverse configurations of cuprofullerenes ranging from m12--(h2:h2:h2)4, m8-(h2:h2:h2:h2)2, m6-(h2:h2:h2)2 to m6-(h2:h2:)2:(h1)2 and crystal structures from oligomers to three-dimensional (3D) metallofullerene frameworks (MFFs). The water content in the reaction system and the reaction temperature play crucial roles in regulating the complex structures through the hydrolysis degree of HFAC. This research provides a new method for modulating the structural diversity of high-nuclearity metallofullerenes, offering insights for the design of functional exohedral metallofullerene (ExMF) materials.
